About 8,000 displaced people in Xisheng Township, Shan State need assistance
According to relevant media reports on June 28, about 8,000 displaced persons (IDPs) who took refuge in Hsihseng Township, Taunggyi County, Shan State are in urgent need of medical and food assistance. Most of these displaced people are from Kayah and Moebye, the town of Pekon in southern Shan State.
A volunteer told the media: "The local displaced people are in great need of assistance, but now people are afraid to donate money and materials to the displaced people because the Tatmadaw regime is constantly arresting donors, and the Tatmadaw regime is worried about the food provided by the donors. and medicines will be handed over to the People’s Defence Army (PDF), that’s why they (Taman army) arrest the donors.”
The volunteer added that on June 23, a doctor named Win Lwin Oo and a medical worker from the Pa-Oh Health Working Committee (PHWC) provided services for the displaced and local residents of Xisheng Town. Free mobile medical services are provided. Fighting between the YPG and the Tatmadaw regime in Karenni and Pekhen townships in Shan states continues to rage, as a result of which the displaced are afraid to return to their homes.
